Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager/Construction Manager with 10 years of experience to join our Water Construction Management team in one of the Arcadis Boynton Beach/West Palm Beach office. Arcadis is growing our water resources and flood management and control team engineering, design, and construction management services in the Southeast over the next few years. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our local team. The Construction Manager, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of the water resources and flood management and control construction market along with a proven reputation within the Mid and Southern US to successfully win and execute projects, to help build and grow our practice.

In this position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Providing construction leadership through all phases of projects up to and including; managing project construction management teams (CM and inspectors) daily construction activities, managing contracts, maintaining QA/QC requirements and approaches, while providing clients with regular progress updates. Being the project construction management leader will mean direct interfacing with the construction contractor representing the client and the engineer of record (EOR), such that through the project is executed in accordance with the contract documents.
  • The construction manager will be responsible for the receipt, coordination and in some cases the review of construction contract submittals in accordance with the contract documents. This will include coordinating the review of the submittal with the client and EOR and the transmittal of comments to the contractor ia the e-Builder platform.
  • The construction manager will be responsible for the development of meeting agenda, meeting minutes, notes and other project related documentation as required by the client. The CM team will utilize the e-Builder platform for transmission or documents as well as document control and storage.
  • Through the monitoring of the performance of contractors activities, the CM team is to assure and document compliance with the contract documents to include, but not limited to, overall site safety, the activities performed by subcontractors and suppliers, witnessing of contractor QC testing to include test procedures are performed in accordance with the appliable standards, coordination of client requested testing, review of test results in accordance with the contract documents, and follows up on and informs the clients of any related including; any changes or deviation from plan, on a regular basis.
  • The CM team will be responsible for the development and stewardship of various project documents to include, but not limited to, daily reports, project photographs, project log books, test results, delivery tickets, quantity tracking sheets, project deficiency notices, project correspondence with the contractor and the client, and any other project related documents.
  • Working with Project / Program Manager to plan, manage, execute and deliver various engineering projects on time, on budget and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Supervising and supporting the work of others; to include mentoring junior level technical staff.
  • Will utilize their expert knowledge of construction schedule analysis, cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure overall success of project delivery while maintaining Arcadis' and clint standards and specifications for project success.
  • Using both their oral and written communication skills to effectively lead and conduct progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, local agencies and the community.
  • Recommending improvements to the project cost, budgets and schedules, requiring experience using Primavera P6, MS Project and e-Builder.
  • Other responsibilities will include acting as liaison to design staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Provided civil engineering project engineering role on other assigned projects, as necessary to include detailed design, preparing of plans, specifications, civil design calculations, details and sketches to be placed into CAD production, reviewed of staff work products, review and respond to internal and client comments, production for deliverable documents and engineering services support to clients.

Required Experience


  • Bachelors' of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related Engineering disciplines

  • Minimum of eight 10 years' experience in construction management on civil works projects (earthen embankments, flood control/drainage pump stations, gated concrete flood control structures, steel flood control components, roads, utilities, infrastructure, paving).

Preferred Qualifications


  • Masters' degree in Engineering, Construction or a BS in these fields and an MBA.

  • 12 years of construction experience specifically related to water resources and flood control/management projects

  • A PE, CCM or PMP is also highly desired.
