Job Description:

Quality Improvement analysts coordinate the selection, preparation, review and necessary revision of HIMS departmental measures. Quality Improvement is a continuous process conducted within the Health Information department which assesses the quality of the work provided by the service areas within the department by measuring the accuracy of key departmental processes. The goal of quality improvement is to continuously identify opportunities for improvement that will benefit the customer, improve results and increase efficiency.

As the Quality Specialist you will be responsible for coordinating and analyzing HIMS processes as well as medical record documentation practices to uncover root causes of variation and implement solutions. This also includes quality improvement/ management, utilization management, customer satisfaction, and maintenance of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) compliance. You will participate in Quality Improvement (QI) activities, help mentor department staff on processes and procedures, and recommend suggestions for changes based on Quality Improvement data.

* Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management required.

* Experience with Quality Improvement, Utilization Management, Risk Reduction/Safety Management and/or related areas preferred. Experience with database development and maintenance preferred.

* Experience with The Joint Commission standards and their application to patient care preferred.

* Registered Health Information Administrator Licensure (RHIA) eligible and required within 6 months of hire.
