DESCRIPTION

The postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Justine Lee, MD, PhD will perform basic in vitro and in vivo studies in materials for skull regeneration. Applicants must have a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, materials science, cancer biology, immunology, or equivalent fields. Applicants must be highly experienced with standard cell biological techniques including cell culture, western blot, QPCR, immunofluorescent/immunohistochemical staining, fluorescent microscopy, and basic statistical analysis. Experience in in vivo surgeries is a plus.

Postdocs will be expected to be independently capable of designing well-controlled, reproducible experiments and executing experiments with the guidance and supervision of the PI and senior scientists in the laboratory. Postdocs will be expected to draft manuscripts of their work and apply for postdoctoral fellowships within the first year of their appointment. Postdocs will also help in supervising surgery residents, graduate students, and research assistants.

Specific Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities of this position include study design, data acquisition, statistical computation, and literature review and manuscript/grant preparation.
Additional Duties:* Supervision of surgery residents, graduate students, research assistants, and new postdoctoral trainees in the lab.* Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively.* Ability to work independently on scientific projects.* Assist with preparation of grant proposals.* Preparation of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.* Required to communicate well with other scientists worldwide.* Candidate should have extensive experience in cell culture, western blot, QPCR, immunofluorescent/immunohistochemical staining, fluorescent microscopy, and basic statistical analysis. Experience in in vivo surgeries is a plus.* The candidate will report to the Principal Investigator and the laboratory senior scientist and will successfully carry out experiments and analyze the data generated with minimal supervision.* Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.* Ability to help and train various personnel in image acquisition and analysis and make significant contributions to the design and execution of other laboratory members' experiments.
