Job Description:

Job Summary:
Manages the Merchant Services sales team responsible for developing new business utilizing card acceptance solutions offered by Merchant Services (MS). Leads sales efforts to achieve established production and profitability objectives. Interacts with partner markets on a regular basis. Monitors and reports results, provides coaching and training to team members.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages the Merchant Services sales team across the Synovus geographic footprint. Provides leadership in all areas of the sales process including product training, coaching, and role play to promote effective strategy.
Serves as line-of-business expert minting knowledge of payments industry standard practices, new industry solutions, applicable Synovus solutions, and ensures team members are trained appropriately.
Remains current by maintaining a small portfolio of self-sourced MS relationships. Communicates as needed with partner markets.
Works with sales team members to develop marketing strategies tailored to meet established sales objectives. Monitors and reports results, coaches and trains team members as needed to ensure objectives are met.
Stays informed of new products and services offered. Incorporates new products and services into sales program and ensures team is trained on new products and services.
Maintains relationship with partner markets to keep lines of communication open. Ensures referral partners are knowledgeable of Merchant Services products and services. Conducts joint market training with sales team as needed.
Ensures referral partner interaction is approached effectively to solicit favorable engagement.
Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
Ten years of acquiring and direct merchant sales experience including experience in a leadership or sales coaching role
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of payments industry including role of acquirers, issuers, sponsor bank, card associations, fees, interchange levels, and independent software vendors (ISV)
Proficiency in all areas of the sales process
Proficiency using Salesforce
Strong leadership and sales coaching skills
Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products.
