Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Apprentice Line Technician Intern - Distribution (Summer 2021) located at the Kearney Operations Center in Kearney . Position closes November 17, 2020. This position will report to the Distribution Superintendent.

Position Summary
The Internship's function is to learn and mentor from experienced line technicians in the field for a period of time starting mid-May through mid-August 2021. Incumbent must have successfully completed their first year of school with an accredited institution in Utility Line and must be required to complete an internship as part of the program curriculum.
The Internship student will climb wood poles to perform repairs, maintenance and construction duties as required to ensure effective operation of NPPD's Distribution and Subtransmission Grid system, in a safe and efficient manner. Incumbent must be certified to climb through courses offered at school. Some overnight travel will be required. Must have and maintain a Class A CDL license prior to and throughout the duration of the internship program.
Incumbent will be required to complete a background check, physical, and drug screen prior to starting with the District. Incumbent will be required to report wearing safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-05 specifications.
Education, Training and Experience
The incumbent must have successfully completed the first semester of college in the Utility Line program at either Metro Community College or Northeast Community College. Incumbent must be certified to climb through an accredited institution.
Licenses and/or Certifications
The incumbent must have and maintain a Class A CDL.
Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $17.00 per hour
This position is eligible for the Intern living stipend.
Travel Required: Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
