If you are a Simulation Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Pittsburgh, PA location, you will be a part of the Ovation Hi-Fidelity Simulator project to develop software applications and implement 1st principle power plant equipment model designs into Ovation.
 

AS A SIMULATION MODEL IMPLEMENTATION ENGINEER YOU WILL: 


  • Collaborate with mathematical model designers to integrate plant equipment model designs into the Ovation® environment

  • Implement the model equations in C/C++/C# code either manually or via the Matlab code generation tools

  • Support of project engineering teams in debugging software related issues.

  • Develop and maintain numerical solving mechanisms, processes and libraries

  • Produce design documents, UML diagrams, user documentation

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, related engineering discipline or equivalent.

  • Strong experience in related software development

  • Outstanding C/C++ or C# development skills and experience

  • Knowledge of physics

  • Numerical Methods for solving differential/algebraic Equations

  • Knowledge of UML or equivalent design tools

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server or equivalent source code control system

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  


  • Masters degree

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in related software development

  • Knowledge of power plants

  • Knowledge of control theory and/or power plant control experience

  • Previous experience in simulation software development

  • Development of numerical intensive simulation/engineering/physics applications

  • Experience with Microsoft development tools and technologies, specifically .NET, C/C++/C#, is highly desirable

  • Experience with real-time control software development in an RTOS environment (VxWorks desired)

  • Knowledge of power plant simulator architectures and computing platforms
