POSITION DETAILS

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing, updating, and implementing long-term sourcing strategies for technologies critical to the business, focused on assigned commodities such as Electrical/Mechanical Systems, Components and Assemblies. Performing supplier capability and capacity analysis to minimize any supplier/technology gaps. As the Principal Commodity Specialist, you will be responsible for handling the assigned category end to end sourcing operations. The successful candidate will be able to appraise and improve our sourcing activities. Optimize sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency. Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

* Support Business and Supply Chain initiatives in driving improved affordability, efficiency, and supply base performance by leading Strategic Sourcing activities in the development and execution of long-term commodity/category strategies and Strategic Sourcing Agreements that are aligned with Engineering Technology and Product Development.

* Foster and maintain effective collaboration across the business areas, specifically within Supply Chain and Engineering, and across enterprise teams to ensure full integration of best practices to accomplish objectives.

* Demonstrate and be recognized by Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Leadership and others as the organization that identifies sources of supply for the technologies they source

* Assist in evolving preferred supplier lists

* Influence cross functional business team to implement defined sourcing strategies and to achieve strategic goals

* Increase preferred suppliers performance of key metrics (supplier performance, price reductions, etc.)

* Conduct supplier development initiatives, including, but not limited to: diversity management, utilization, capabilities & technology growth

* Work closely with businesses and programs to find and develop opportunities for price reductions

* Identify and lead program cost reduction opportunities/initiatives

* Launch procurement activity as needed to support annual sourcing strategy

* Participate in New Product Development

* Other duties as assigned by Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Experience with FAR, DFAR

* Strong analytical skills, and the ability to apply critical thinking in every step during the sourcing process

* The ability to influence the design engineering communities, program leadership, and the Supply Chain organization in the sourcing technology focus areas

* Knowledge of how internal and customer technology research and development (IRAD/CRAD) impacts SAS and RTN, i.e., technology roadmaps and how the current supply base supports and perform gap analysis of any challenges

* Ability to develop, deploy, and update sourcing strategies/goals to support the needs of the business

* Ability to provide technical analysis of specifications/requirements on products within commodity focus areas, as well as an understanding of vertical requirements within the system it feeds

* Other industry accredited certifications (ASME, IPC, CPM, CFCM, etc.)

Education & Experience

* 8 years of experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, subcontract management, material program management or related experience sourcing commodities with a domain knowledge in one or more of Electrical/Mechanical Systems, Components and Assemblies, RF, Optics and Lasers

* Experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

* Familiarity doing business with Aerospace Prime Customers

* Experience with ITAR, Price Analysis, Cost Analysis, Corporate Wide and Strategic Sourcing Agreements

* Experience with 3D Negotiations on Domestic and International Proposals, exceptions to Terms and Conditions, Negotiation of Price and other business terms

* Experience in leadership roles interfacing with both internal and external clients including senior leadership, as well as working with groups across functions

* Experience assessing suppliers capabilities, identifying opportunities to improve affordability

* Experience with risk management, lead, facilitate, and apply judgment - identify problems, engages appropriate stakeholder, and drive solution

* Experience supporting proposal efforts and review of bill of materials to define sources of supply within their technology focus areas

* Experience in reviewing/writing comprehensive Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW)

* Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders

* Proficiency in Material Resource Planning tools such as JDE

* Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint, MS Project

* S. Citizenship is required

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred), Business, Supply Chain Management, or other related field

DESIRED EDUCATION: Master s degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred), Supply Chain Management, MBA, or other related field
