JOB DESCRIPTION
The Xavier lab is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to join a multidisciplinary research team focused on systemic characterization of genetic variants in the regulation of innate and adaptive immunity, molecular mechanisms of microbiome in health and microbial pathway activation during disease and treatment, and chemical biology to control cellular disease phenotypes.

Work will include developing, optimizing and executing cellular assays and high throughput screens for therapeutic projects to investigate the role of autophagy and lysosomal function in inflammatory bowel disease. The successful candidate will participate in the experimental design, execution and analysis of a variety of standard and novel cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry assays.

Relevant publications include papers in Proc Natl Acad Sci USA and Nat Chem Biol .

Key Responsibilities
- Work with supervisor to plan and meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Design, execute and analyze basic experiments.
- Develop and validate new cell-based and/or biochemical assays.
- Meticulously document and interpret experimental data.
- Attend team meetings to share results, plan projects and experiments, and to ensure that projects support current team goals in a dynamic environment.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the team on a daily basis.
- Train and support junior members of the team, as needed.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Prepare, order and maintain inventory and stocks of necessary reagents, solutions and supplies.

Requirements
- BS in biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related field required.
- Must possess at least 3 years of professional experience in an academic or industry laboratory setting.
- Excellent aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture skills are required.
- Microscopy and/or automation experience highly desirable.
- Prior experience with assay development and troubleshooting preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Detail-oriented and highly adaptable.
- Strong communication and organizational skills required.
