Director, National Tax Office

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC is currently looking for a Director (Experienced Manager) for our National Tax Office in Washington, DC.  The National Tax Office collaborates with Tax practitioners across A&M - from Transaction Tax and Core Tax, to R&D and Compensation and Benefits. This position seeks an analytical and adaptable tax background.

How you'll contribute

  • Play a key role in helping build the A&M Taxand's National Tax Office

  • Stay current and ahead of cutting-edge tax-related developments, legislative and regulatory changes affecting the tax practice

  • Contribute to the growth, experience, and institutional knowledge of the A&M Taxand tax practice team members, including the providing of technical memos and opinions and oral presentations

  • Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work product that meets and/or exceeds client expectations

  • Lead, participate in and contribute to market and business development activities external to the firm; including identifying and pursuing new potential client service opportunities by collaborating with A&M Taxand's practices

  • Master of Science in Accounting or in Taxation, J.D. or LL.M

  • 5+ years of progressive tax consulting experience in a major public accounting (with a preference for national tax office experience), law firm, Department of the Treasury, or IRS Chief Counsel

  • Strong writing, analytical, research and organizational skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills

  • Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team

  • Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive environment

  • Ability to manage and develop and mentor staff in a collaborative team environment

  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations

  • Demonstrated track record of ability to develop and maintain existing internal and external client relationships and help build new relationships with key targets
