DESCRIPTION
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for performing, developing, managing, and reviewing electrical engineering aspects of infrastructure improvement projects. Assignments will include intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals, lighting applications, and broad range of electrical distribution systems. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to lead the preparation of engineering plans, one line diagrams, schematics, power distribution calculations, lighting design (illuminance) calculations, technical specifications, and construction estimates and schedules. You will be supported by a successful management team and team of designers to advance your technical and management skills. • Essential functions will include the preparation of engineering designs for highway and other outdoor lighting systems, security systems, and intelligent transportation systems; voltage drop, short circuit and illuminance calculations; power distribution diagrams; utility service coordination; protective relaying; arc flash hazard analysis, key interlocking, and grounding calculations.
  
  
• You will be responsible for all aspects of electrical system designs, task budget expenditures, task schedules. You will work directly with project leadership staff to scope projects and to identify and mitigate potential constructability or other design issues.
  
  
• On some days, you will make field visits to project sites to investigate and photograph existing site conditions.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of progressive electrical design and lighting design experience. Experience with High, Medium and Low voltage distribution systems is highly desirable.
  
  
• Experience working with NJDOT, NJTA, NJTPA, NYSDOT, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey preferred.
  
  
• Professional Engineer's license or the ability to obtain future licensure is required.
  
  
• Knowledge of codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, electrical safety code, IES, and AASHTO lighting standards.
  
  
• Organized, goal oriented, quality focused and determined; build relationships with a wide variety of people. Time management skills; the ability to multitask and prioritize competing project obligations.
  
  
• Proficiency in engineering software such as CAD lighting design, and power systems analysis. Excellent English language skills, written and verbal.
  
  
• Adapt to our policy, procedures and relevant software while acquiring an understanding of the company's service offerings, and the client's standards and procedures relevant to your projects.
