Job Description:

This position provides manufacturing engineering support for Turbomachinery components manufacturing at Solar Turbines' Superior Gear facility. Responsibilities include detailed manufacturing planning, manufacturing process continuous improvement, first article proofing, tooling/fixture design, machine selection/requisition, process/quality control, and new product design and development support. The incumbent collaborates closely with fellow manufacturing engineers, design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, planning, and facility engineering.


  • Create detailed parts and assembly manufacturing plans and process requirements/operation instructions.

  • Select/design tooling, fixtures and gages.

  • Lead responsible product line parts quality investigation, resolution, and improvement.

  • Assist new product development for manufacturability.

  • Create overhaul parts inspection and remanufacturing plans.

  • Support supply chain quality resolution and improvement.

  • Drive continuous process improvement.

  • Define capital needs/requirements and procure machine and equipment.

• Precision components manufacturing experiences, especially gears and shafts
