EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree preferred, education inclusive of college or practical experience and related seminars preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years related experience.
  • Prior loan compliance experience a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Excellent knowledge of federal and bank regulations relating to lending.
  • Excellent knowledge of loan origination, processing and closing.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, terminology and federal and state insurance requirements.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use discretion while making work decisions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

JOB SUMMARY

A Loan Closing & Insurance Officer processes and performs reviews of Flood and Hazard Insurance policies in conformance with applicable policies and procedures to support loan closings. In addition, the Closing and Insurance Officer coordinates secondary loan file reviews for multi-family and commercial real estate loans to facilitate clearance to close.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Liaises with Bank Approved Insurance Consultant, Loan Closing Manager, Loan Officers, Loan Closing Officers, Bank Attorneys, Broker/Borrower Contact, and others as needed to address questions, resolve problems, and establish insurance requirements prior to closing.
  • Prepares draft Bank flood insurance requirements, including but not limited to determining policy limits and building occupancy classification, via the completion of a Calculation of Required Flood Insurance.
  • Coordinates the review and approval of property, liability, flood, and other required insurance when such review is performed by an outside Bank Approved Insurance Consultant.
  • Tracks and monitors the progress of insurance reviews performed by outside insurance consultants, and updates NewGen fields and other tracking reports as appropriate.
  • Liaises with Bank Attorneys, brokers and Loan Officers to resolve closing conditions prior to closing.
  • Performs final review of files in order to clear for closing.
  • Performs follow-up with Loan Officers, Underwriters, Bank Attorneys and brokers to ensure that all missing documentation is received prior to closing.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local rules and regulations.
  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
