Weeks Marine, Inc., is actively seeking a Corporate HS&E Manager that is a strong leader and effective communicator that will work closely with the Corporate HS&E Director to drive the safety culture and continually strive to improve our safety program’s quality, effectiveness, and support throughout the organization.  This position is responsible for developing and implementing policy, initiatives and sustainable programs to drive safety and health across the organization. They will serve as a functional expert in support of the Corporate and Divisional HS&E team(s).

 

Essential Job Functions


  • Drive Weeks’ strategic HS&E vision into comprehensive and pragmatic improvement plans to meet or exceed corporate expectations.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes, evaluate the impact of those changes to the business and develop action plans to address in a timely manner. 
  • Develop or update health and safety policies and procedures as needed.  
  • Provide technical health and safety consultation and other support as needed related to internal and external events, and divisional HS&E staff. 
  • Conducts and/ or reviews incident investigations and develops corrective action recommendations and implementation.
  • Drive injury reduction by leveraging data analysis and deploying prevention programs.
  • Gathers, validates and analyzes safety performance statistics by utilizing apps and centralized platforms for tracking (leading and lagging) and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Review results of enterprise safety inspections and, based on data, identify areas for improvement and develop corrective actions.
  • Develop inspections checklists and utilize apps and centralized platforms for tracking inspection results, safety performance data and corrective actions enterprise wide.
  • Use and provide specialized HS&E knowledge and experience to help leadership drive behavioral changes in the business to reduce incidents and become an industry HS&E leader.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to Divisional Leaders and actively engage mid-level management, and supervision in the development, implementation, delivery and verification of enterprise health and safety programs.
  • Actively participate in outside industry organizations that are involved in or promote health and safety for heavy civil marine construction. 
  • Support the risk management process to assure thorough and efficient claims management and investigation.
  • Support the development of safety training programs.
  • Coordinate and verify enterprise safety recordkeeping and reporting of occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Coordinate communications and interactions with regulatory bodies, including but not limited to OSHA and public health agencies.

Required Skills


  • Ability to influence and work with non-direct reports, peers and divisional management to gain alignment and achieve goals.
  • Ability to write technical reports, prepare presentations and correspondence and to communicate relevant information verbally to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage staff members and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work well in a cooperative team environment and participate routinely in multi-disciplinary projects and activities.
  • Ability to recognize and deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Federal, State and Local regulations as applicable construction and related industries.
  • Ability to generate trust and recognition as a coach and people leader.

 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the Construction industry driving compliance and injury reduction.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty, complex situations and manage change effectively.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and open manner through verbal, written, and non-verbal methods, to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information.
  • Ability to summarize and present complex technical information
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint a minimum).

 

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to remain in seated stationary position for long periods of time
  • Ability to navigate around office to use equipment as needed
  • Light lifting (Up to 20 lbs.) as needed
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop, and/or sit
