Job Description:

Essential Functions:

Assist Sports Director in hiring, training, and supervision of Gymnastics Instructors.
Prepare and teach standardized lesson plans for preschool and progressive level classes.
Assist Sports Director in scheduling of Classes, Gymnastics Instructors and Volunteers.
Active involvement with participants during warm up either as a leader of warm up or assisting and supervising participants in their warm up activities. When necessary keep order in the warm up lines and attend to participants arriving late to class.
Coaching, teaching and spotting participants during class.
Evaluate new class members for proper placement in progressive lessons.
Responsible for program safety practices, equipment and mat safety and cleanliness of area of teaching station.
Responsible to report any accidents or problems to supervisor immediately and required to fill out incident report for any injuries.
Providing assistance to fellow instructors and co-workers by giving direction when necessary.
Hand out flyers, cleaning up equipment area and provide information to parents when necessary at the end of the class.
Make yourself available to all members regardless of race, age, gender, socioeconomic status or fitness level.
Assist in The Annual Giving Campaign and other fundraising activities
Help implement the Character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility to all gymnasts.
Executions of other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Sports Director.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have previous experience in teaching and/or coaching gymnastics for children in all age groups
Participation in spotting and teaching clinics at the YMCA and other trainings.
Ability to work with the general public-good communication skills
Believe in the YMCA philosophy and YMCA Mission.
Current certifications in CPR/First Aid and relevant skills
Have a desire to work with and care for children; enjoy athletics and leisure sports.



Physical Demands:

Physical ability to spot participants.
Be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Standing for periods of time.



Performance Objectives:

Development of a well-trained and responsive coaching staff who demonstrate superior member service skills and problem solving.
Continue growth in preschool and progressive levels through retention and new participants.
Gymnastics areas will be kept neat and clean
Gymnastics instructors will have good attendance and will not be tardy for classes.
All emergencies or accidents are reported immediately to supervisor or Director on Duty. Effective communication among our members is above standard.
