Human Resources Assistant at Casa de Amparo in San Marcos, California

Job Description:

Casa de Amparo is a leader in treating and preventing child abuse and neglect in San Diego County and all over the state of California.

General Function: 

Under the direction of the Manager of HR, executes administrative Human Resource functions, including HRIS database entry and employee record keeping, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, termination processing and employee relations.

Major Tasks:


  1. Perform HRIS database entry and transition from hardcopy to electronic files.

  2. Create employee HRIS profiles and update data as necessary, create and populate custom fields, including training records, upload hardcopy documents as needed, maintain active and terminated employee files.

  3. Maintain HR non-employee files as assigned.

  4. Assist with recruiting functions as assigned.

  5. Assist with new hire tasks as assigned.

  6. Assist with group New Hire Orientations as assigned.

  7. Assist with employee termination functions as assigned.

  8. Complete monthly reporting and tracking activities as assigned.

  9. Function as backup for submitting/following up with Worker’s Compensation claims.

  10. Assist with a wide variety of administrative/clerical duties

  11. Function as backup for Administrative Assistant/Receptionist.

  12. Participate on employee recognition committee.

  13. Coordinate efforts with other administrative office staff as needed

  14. Participate in Administrative Team meetings

  15. Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.

  • 1+ year administrative experience.

  • 1+ year database entry experience.  Experience with HRIS entry preferred.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience with a non-profit organization preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook.

  • Commitment to confidentiality.

  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions.
