Position Description:
SUMMARY:

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares and packs items for shipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: include the following:

• Coordinates the handling of export documentation required for outbound shipments including customer information, shipment details, bill of lading instructions, transportation details, and invoices.
• Assembles orders, checks against shipping or customer order and reports shortages and incomplete orders.
• Selects appropriate shipping containers and packing material.
• Operates standard manual and automatic equipment.
• Stacks shipments on skids and takes shipments to shipping dock.
• Receives and unpacks materials and supplies.
• Checks receipts against purchase order for proper shipment, shortages, damages or defects. Expedites material to proper department or storage location.
• Operates crane, hoist or power truck to move materials.
• Adhere to safety and company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED Vocational or technical certification helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, colleagues and members of the business community when required.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Some basic computer skills.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts. Work is typically performed at a bench/desk (which may include sitting and/or standing) and may include walking or standing half of the time to lead work activities.
