The Regional EHS&S Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and acting as the technical subject matter expert to the Western Operations Leadership Team in all matters related to environmental, health, safety, and security compliance.

Together with BWCC's Western Operations Leadership Team; the Regional EHS&S Manager will be chartered with strengthening our safety culture, enhancing predictability of performance throughout the region. They will work to identify, anticipate and assess hazards, and implement Company EHS&S Policies and Procedures and management systems to maintain regulatory compliance and reduce the impact of incidents and losses, including worker's compensation costs. This position is responsible for the development of EHS&S solutions, talent acquisition, and capabilities within the B&W's U.S Construction Operations in the West. Selecting, placing and managing EHS&S supervision on applicable active projects across the region .


  • Administers the framework of B&W's Global EHS&S Management Systems designed to promote a strong safety culture and top / down - bottom up process focused on driving accountability and "Best in Class" performance.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of daily adherence to environmental, health, safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates Regional EHS&S Leadership Meeting & self - audit / inspections on a quarterly basis.
  • Leads EHS&S performance improvements initiatives and corporate business plan objectives across the territory.
  • Facilitate/participate in Serious Incident Review (SIR) and Incident Investigations and Root-Cause Analysis of all incidents as appropriate; coordinating and participating (as required) in the investigation and case management of accidents and near misses, per B&W policy and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Fosters the continuous improvement of corporate and regional EHS&S Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirement and administrative best practices.
  • Participate in hourly EHS&S talent acquisition, professional development strategies and regional EHS&S goal setting
  • Responsible for the supervision and staffing of project based EHS&S professionals.
  • Provide supervision, training and coaching to operational leaders and site safety professionals to ensure technical competence and development within the region and during project execution.
  • Lead / monitor and communicate regional performance management metrics weekly / monthly focused on analyzing and communicating both leading and lagging indicators trends.
  • Participate in bid spec review and hazard assessments associated with projects performance.
  • Provide technical oversight and development of Site Specific Safety Action and Emergency Response Plans, Hazard Assessments and Mitigation Plans.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of B&W, Customer and Regulatory requirements throughout the territory.
  • Act as the regional subject matter expert to the reginal Leadership and Project Teams in all matters related to EHS&S.
  • Conduct EHS audits, tracking trends within an internal database in accordance with B&W policy.
  • Facilitates Industrial Hygiene assessments, sampling and long-term records retention.
  • Acts as the primary Designated Employer Representative (D.E.R.) responsible for monitoring the implementation and compliance with the Company / Customer Fit for Duty Programs across the territory.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned .
  • Share technical oversight and development responsibilities for weekly EHS&S focus topics and corporate EHS&S Alerts in support of Weekly Operations Safety Call which provides a forum for enhancing BWCC's Safety Culture, sharing best practices and operating experiences, recognizing safety champions, communicating expectations, reviewing trends across the country.
  • Act as Company representative during customer / third party facing presentations, meeting and during investigations.
  • Ensuring consistent expectations are delivered throughout the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, EHS&S, Engineering, or other relevant technical fields preferred.
  • 10 years of proven and progressive EHS&S experience performing and managing EHS&S Program implementation within the heavy industrial construction industry .
  • Evidence of increasing management responsibility at the corporate level with demonstrated experience providing multi-project oversight. Knowledge of union craft environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability staffing and managing a wide range of diverse and complex projects across a large territory .
  • Established client relationships within the utility, industrial, and oil and gas market sectors is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully work both in team environment and independently, with minimum supervision, under the guidance of the General Manager and Director of Corporate EHS&S.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and other Federal, State, and Local Regulatory Agencies including demonstrated experience successfully navigating audit / inspection processes.
  • Knowledgeable in Workers' Compensation / case management.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS&S data management software.
  • Solution minded, self-starter, goal oriented, quality focused, with a high degree of integrity and demonstrated success creating and fostering a team environment.
  • Exceptional organization, data management, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Effective communication, influencing, & coaching skills with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness and ability to provide 24/7 on call support within Region.
