The Sourcing Specialist - Protective Packaging is primarily responsible for developing, managing, negotiating, and implementing all sourcing, procurement, and costing processes directly related to protective packaging. Manage vendor relationships to ensure negotiated benefits are realized and desired quality and stock levels are maintained. Stay current and informed on all industry trends and work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to meet agreed upon operating goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and lead Protective Packaging supplier development initiatives


• Deliver annual cost savings to support the corporate savings goal and/or to re-invest in the business to drive growth and innovation.


• Collaborate with sales and business development leaders to support and sustain their initiatives while evaluating options and providing the best cost and most optimal solutions


• Lead and support the effectiveness of the protective packaging distribution strategy, i.e. increase availability, build, and strengthen vendor relationships.


• Implement supplier scorecard and tracks supplier performance; drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance


• Develop cost models and analytical tools that provides full transparency to cost drivers


• Other responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain or related field, or equivalent work experience


• Professional designation such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent preferred

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• 5-10 years of experience in strategic protective packaging sourcing and procurement within Metals manufacturing industries


• Someone who knows all the products within the metals industry


• Someone who knows suppliers and has supplier relationships


• Someone who knows we are using the wrong product and how to save and leverage so that we don’t have a lot of skews

SKILLS:

• Extensive experience in leading new product and or new supplier development initiatives in a highly competitive business environment


• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills with internal stakeholders and external vendors and suppliers


• Strong knowledge of procurement related laws and regulations within the Canadian, USA and Mexico


• Experience implementing and managing change


• Solid understanding of protective packaging industry and associated materials is a plus


• Experience in a similar role in a multisite manufacturing environment is preferred


• Strong analytical skills with deep expertise in creating cost models and advance level cost evaluation tools


• Strong leadership skills and proactive work ethic


• Proficient in MS Office applications


• Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision


• Ability to travel as required
