Patient Service Representative - Physical Therapy at Excelsior Orthopaedics in Niagara Falls, New York

Job Description:

Performs a wide variety of duties related to reception, registration and check in of patients. Also responsible for various administrative functions for physicians and other providers in support of operational efficiency in reception and clinical areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  1. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  2. Greets all incoming patients, verifies appointment and insurance information. Obtains all other necessary paperwork, enters data into practice management system. Directs patients to waiting areas.

  3. Maintains patient flow and monitors waiting area conditions. Communicates with patients as necessary, particularly during times of lengthy delays.

  4. Performs registration procedures for new patients. Obtains all necessary demographic, insurance and payment information. May explain insurance eligibility criteria and coverage to patient. Reviews copayment amounts. May communicate with insurance carriers to obtain or verify information.

  5. Generates reports and other documentation for patient charts.

  6. Check out duties - assists physicians and other providers in efficient flow of patients in the exam rooms and treatment areas.

  7. Processes referrals and other paperwork for providers, collects copayments and patient financial responsibilities and schedules follow up appointments.

  8. Retrieves and organizes patient charts for following day's appointments according to specifications of each physician. Obtains missing reports and documentation for charts as necessary.

  9. Answers telephones and directs the caller to the appropriate associate. Will transfer a caller to an associate’s voice mailbox when the associate is unavailable.

  10. Assists with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, and filing.

 
 

Required Education and Experience/ Qualifications
1-2 years reception/registration experience in a medical office preferred and familiarity with Practice Management System or customer service experience with knowledge of HMO, PPO and other insurances. Experience with Medent system preferred.

This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
