Job Description:

The Computer Vision and Remote Sensing Group at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is looking for a GIS software developer to join our team operating at the forefront of Computer Vision technology applied to satellite imagery. We work closely with world-renowned universities in computer vision, photogrammetry, and remote sensing to find innovative solutions to the most difficult real-world problems in United States Intelligence and Defense communities. Staff Software Developer, Geographic Information System (GIS) Responsibilities:



  • Build GIS software for big data processing and for mobile navigational apps

  • Develop your code within a collaborative team-based environment

  • Present technical content to customers

Staff Software Developer, Geographic Information System (GIS) Required Qualifications:



  • Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)

  • BS/MS in GIS, Computer Science, Imaging Science, or similar technical field

  • Programming experience in Java, C/C++, Python

  • Experience working with satellite imagery, aerial imagery, or developing geospatial applications. Please see our similar career postings in the Computer Vision and Remote Sensing group for greater experience levels:


  • Team player with strong presentation and written/oral communication skills

Staff Software Developer, Geographic Information System (GIS) Additional Desirable Qualifications:



  •  Programming experience in C# and .NET

  •  Experience developing apps for Android OS

  •  Experience with GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, gdal/OSGeo

  • Experience working on intelligence and DoD programs, including TAK

  • Desire to grow your knowledge in Computer Vision and Remote Sensing

  • Prior/existing security clearance

Experience

Required
  • 2 - 4 years: Relevant Work Experience (i.e., including thesis, published research, and industry experience)

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Computer Science or related field
