Position Overview

 

Responsible for the marketing of products and services provided by the company in assigned territory and developing new markets while expanding current customer base.  Managing sales budget within established sales goals.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

Texas Concrete is looking for a Sales Representative to join our team in the Austin, TX area. The Sales Representative reports to the Sales Manager and is responsible for developing and maintaining favorable relationships with current and potential customers, achieving sales goals of our Ready-mix concrete products business, developing short and long term sales strategies and sales plans to increase the sales volume and profit margins.

 


  • Assist the Sales Manager in developing strategies and tactics that ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability in key markets through assigned geography.

  • Establish annual sales projections by product and recommend sales programs to reach sales projections.

  • Analyze market potential, including competitive pricing, activities, market trends, and other relevant facts and report findings to the sales manager as required.

  • Maintain proper product and service positioning in the marketplace to ensure maximum profit potential while maintaining maximum goodwill with customers.

  • Assist the sales manager and director of sales with the formulation of annual budget including sales forecasts.

  • Identify and bid all appropriate projects within assigned marketing area. Participate in the development of bid strategy for each job.

  • Sell products to business and industrial establishments or individuals utilizing knowledge of the products sold.

  • Establish short and long term goals and strategies in regards to key clients and prospects. Develop specific action plans to achieve goals.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of entire product line, product changes, selling strategies, competitive surveillance methods, expense control, etc.

  • Partner with other departments (Quality Control, Production, Operations, Transportation, and Accounting) to ensure every account receives the highest level of customer service.

  • Communicate with the sales team to manage and coordinate sales to customers who overlap geographic boundaries and markets, as well as to leverage the CRH portfolio across company boundaries.

  • Manage CRH relationships with key accounts.

  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers and vendors as needed.

  • Increase sales volume for company’s products and services, while maintaining sales expense budget.

  • Track product inventory to ensure adequate supply of product is available to meet customers’ needs.

  • Compiles a list of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from a variety of sources.

  • Develop and maintain profiles of competitors and customer accounts to ensure prompt payment of goods and services.

  • Maintain continual vigilance over competitors’ programs and pricing and include these observations in written reports as required to include price, product changes/improvement, terms of sales and service.

  • Coordinate product delivery if necessary.

  • Manage administrative duties to include full detailed information (reports, status updates, etc.) meeting established deadlines and objectives.

  • Develop and enhance skills and activities that increase effectiveness in sales presentations and professionalism through training.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis to include on demand forecasting, competitor capabilities, customer profiles and the next best alternatives.

  • Will be responsible for meeting specific sales volumes and profit margin goals.

  • Actively participate in industry and product-related associations, training programs, conferences, seminars and educational forums to develop and maintain key networking and business relationships.

  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Sales/Marketing position or equivalent position with a customer service focus.

  • Prior construction sales experience minimum 2 years, preferred.

  • Salesforce or Customer Records Management experience would be a plus, not required.

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen in regards to sales and marketing and/or the construction market; be knowledgeable in regards to current and possible future industry trends.

  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers - internal and external.

  • Be pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter who is action-oriented and drives for results.

  • Foster a collaborative, team-based approach.

  • Highly ethical.

  • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with a diverse group or people within the Company and in a sales capacity.

  • Must have the drive and self-discipline to work independently within territory to accomplish goals.

 

Work Requirements

 


  • Must be 18 years in age or older.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.

  • Be able to provide acceptable documentation to complete Form I-9.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 50%).

  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
