Overview:
This position is responsible for maintaining and proactively managing the Laboratory and Analytical (LAB) computers and associated software and systems in operating condition.
In addition, providing Deskside support for escalations and project work. Reporting to LIT Team Lead / Country IT Manager.
Responsibilities:
Maintain all LAB computers integrity
Perform administrative tasks as required to LAB systems
Provide technical sales assistance as required
Train other IT and business staff as required on LAB systems
Perform implementation and maintenance of LAB computers and software as required
Analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop recommendations for improving or further leveraging these systems
Perform LAB and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
Maintain central repository of all site specific LAB equipment
Practice LAB asset management, including maintenance of LAB inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems
Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports
3 rd line support of Intertek’s desktop computing
Work with internal customers to provide system solutions
Work with regional and global engineering teams for site specific IT infrastructure support
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issue tickets
Write effective technical documentation as assigned
Ensure adherence to company IT standards for systems
Ensure adherence to company IT processes, such as change management
Keep abreast of current technology
Perform other work as required
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of LAB techniques
Exposure to LAB computer security, monitoring and configuring
Knowledge of Microsoft LAB products
Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
Knowledge of or exposure to SMS and/or other asset management tool
Working knowledge of backup/restore solutions
Knowledge of networking topologies and network wiring systems
Extensive experience utilizing several operating systems
Technical certification such as MCS or MCSE preferred
A history of self-motivation, organization, planning and detail-oriented work
The skill-set and desire to stay up with technology changes
Able to read, analyse, and interpret technical and business documentation
Ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various levels of management and users
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
A team player, able to work with peers on tasks and projects
Experience with HP LAB equipment a plus
Flexible approach to working hours and travel
Cultural awareness
Education:
Degree in Information Technology, or the equivalent in terms of education, experience and training
