Our Opening

Pacific Power's Albany headquarters has an opening for a journeyman lineman. Based in the central Willamette Valley, our Albany headquarters offers employees the ability to work in a broad service territory while permitting them the flexibility to live in an urban or rural community. The Albany headquarters supports approximately 125,000 customers, including Oregon State University. Work includes new installations, maintenance and troubleshooting on transmission and distribution electrical systems overhead and underground electric service.

Immediate opening for qualified Journeyman Lineman (minimum two years' work experience preferred) with an hourly wage rate of $50.16. In addition to a competitive hourly wage, this position offers enhanced extension of workday premiums, enriched Saturday and Sunday pay premiums, 20% standby pay premium and comprehensive group health benefits and 401(k) matching.

Requirements

• Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through IBEW Local 659
• Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman
• Must have formal hot stick training and experience
• Must possess or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Must meet examining board review of skills and experience
• Required to pass a post-offer pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening, which is at the company's expense, will only assess the identified physical demands of the job.
• High school diploma or high school equivalency required

Physical Demands

Job duties of the Journeyman Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead. Lifting requirements in excess of 75 lbs. and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs. is required. Forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures is required.
