Job Description:

The Head of HR Development is a member of the Executive Leadership Team for thyssenkrupp Camshafts. This role leads the human resources, environmental, health, safety, and training activities within the organization. The HRD/ OSH team is highly collaborative and integrates into the operations of the organization. The most important focus for these functions is customer service. The Head of HRD/ OSH aligns the team to that expectation and executes the development of policy, compensation, talent development, benefits, and training for the organization with that focus in mind.

The Head of Human Resource Development / Environmental, Health and Safety serves as an engaged and trusted source in the organization. Success in this role is measured by achievement of a balanced scorecard metrics including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost. Key deliverables to ensure success are listed below:


  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.

  • Manages the communication of HRD/ OSH initiatives, removing barriers and participating in continuous improvement actives as needed to raise the bar.

  • Develop and oversee plant human resources, training, environmental, health and safety programs. Ensure compliance with all EHS + HRD regulations per thyssenkrupp, OSHA guidelines, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949 and other regulatory agencies.

Human Resource Development:

  • Responsible for the organization's compliance with all applicable state and federal employment, payroll and leave laws.

  • Analyzes wage and salary data to assess total compensation competitiveness and effectiveness both internally and in comparison to external marketplace. Makes recommendations for modifications, when needed, and implement approved changes.

  • Oversees the management of the employee benefits packages, determines annual premiums and serves on thyssenkrupp North America's benefits committee as requested to support development of benefits packages.

  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues taking into consideration written policy and past practices.

  • Creates, reviews and revises human resource policies and procedures to ensure strategic alignment with short-term and long-term Business Plan objectives.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.

  • Represents organization in personnel-related hearings and investigations.

  • Leads and or manages courageously during organizational change; takes appropriate risks, energizes and encourages others to do so in order to achieve company goals and priorities.

  • Responsible for the administration of employment life cycle including the effective recruitment and retention of employees, onboarding, training, feedback review, employee engagement, off boarding and employee relations.

  • Develops, monitors, and maintains all activities associated with the Resource Development (Training) requirements of the Quality Management Systems. Ensures all employees who affect the quality of our product are properly trained and appropriate documentation has been generated.

  • Develops and maintains organizational development and training programs for the facility. This includes; assessing training needs, coordinating identified training, and assessing the effectiveness of training.

  • Identify sources for training grant money and apply for available grants to offset training costs.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the plant Training Program (Progressive, Advanced Skills + Safety) for operations, maintenance, logistics and other support departments.

  • Responsible for the oversight and administration of the learning management system to administer all training plans plant-wide.

    Environmental, Health + Safety



  • Lead value added initiatives to improve employee incident rates, eliminate occupational safety hazards and reduce workers compensation costs.

  • Responsible for compliance with statutory regulations and other requirements related to Environmental, Health + Safety.

  • Responsible for the administration, review, and maintenance of hazard analysis and Risk Assessments for Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Responsible to author and maintain the Emergency Response and Preparedness Plan.

  • Ensures Safety and Environmental Inspections, Internal Audits and Near Miss reports are reviewed regularly and actioned accordingly.

  • Oversees the management of the First Responder Program and Injury Management Program including investigation of environmental, health and safety incidents, worker's compensation and property damage.

  • Responsible to define and drive results for annual environmental objectives and targets.
