Job Description:

Tetra Tech AMT is looking for a Systems Engineer/Integrator to support FAA NextGen programs with experience in systems safety for the development of safety assessments, procedures, guidance, policy, and system requirements. Safety risk management experience at a program level, concept capability level desired. This work includes Enterprise level safety and development of National Airspace System Safety requirements. Background in technical areas such as NAS architecture, Safety Management Systems, and NAS domains areas such as automation, communication, navigation and air traffic management and operations desired.

Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide assistance to the FAA Office of NextGen (ANG) in support of enterprise safety risk management efforts in order to provide strategies and guidance for strategic investment decisions and development of the National Airspace System (NAS)
  
  


• Work collaboratively with the team in the development of a systems model of the NAS and conduct safety assessments to evaluate current safety risks
  
  


• Perform risk-based decision-making analysis in support of strategic investment decisions
  
  


• Research safety data in support of safety assessment activities
  
  


• Develop safety reports, policy, and regulatory documents
  
  


• Provide technical support for the development of web-based safety data sharing applications
  
  


• Provide expertise in the application of state-of-the-art technology to meet mission requirements
  
  


• The candidate must be able to plan, organize, prioritize and carry out their own work duties
  
  


• Other tasks and appropriate duties as required
  
  


• Travel is dependent on FAA needs
  
  

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering (civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, avionics, environmental, or computer from a college or university with a degree curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).


• A minimum of 10 years of experience in system engineering in the aerospace industry


• Experience, within the last three years, working with aerospace safety or safety focused environment


• Master's Degree in related field may be substituted for 3 years of experience


• PhD in related field may be substituted for 7 years of experience


• Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and relevant concepts


• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems


• Experience systems modeling languages such as Systems Modeling Language (SysML) is preferred


• Acquisition Management System (AMS) knowledge


• Safety Management System (SMS) knowledge (i.e., Safety Risk Management (SRM), Safety Assurance, Safety Policy, Safety Communication)
