The Speech Language Therapist, reporting to the Rehabilitation Services Director, will be responsible for providing high quality Speech Therapy and Language Pathology services to a diverse group of hospital patients. Collaborating with others in Speech Therapy as well as a multidisciplinary team, the Speech Therapist will use their strong communication and organizational skills to keep those involved in their patients' care well informed. 

The Speech Language Therapist will assess patients' needs and strengths, diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders, establish goals for the department, plan services, and determine the best course of treatment in conjunction with physicians and those directly involved in the patients care. The Speech Language Therapist will educate patients / families in best practices of treatments once discharged and recovering at home, playing an important role in the discharge planning process. They will clearly and consciously communicate any changes or updates of patients conditions with all those directly involved in providing care. The Pathologist will prepare summaries and reports while carefully documenting all care, submitting required paperwork on a daily basis. The Speech Language Therapist will serve on all necessary specialized committees and participate in the development / revision of department policies and procedures.
