The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for the day to day warehouse operations including receiving, picking, shipping, inventory and safety.  In addition to these specified tasks, the Distribution Center Supervisor will assist implementing future projects and maintaining current programs.

Job Responsibilities


  • Plans and assigns work duties to all employees.

  • Recommends improvements in processing methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

  • Balances safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.

  • Works to continuously improve all areas.

  • Provides departmental measurements of performance goals and standards to each department and Plant Manager.

  • Maintains customer fill rates and customer satisfaction.

  • Manages department priorities.

  • Continuously removing non-value activities from process throughout warehouse.

  • Consolidating existing inventory to streamline process and eliminate excessive material handling.

  • Resolves employee issues through problem solving resolutions.

  • Instruct, train, orient, motivate and otherwise assist employees so that production and quality objectives are achieved.  Participate in the selection/interview process to fill work positions and appraise employee performance.  Recommend promotion, transfer and work assignments.

  • Keeps employees informed of the company rules and regulations, and production and quality expectations.  Issue warnings and other approved disciplinary measures when necessary.  Encourage employee communication and endorse an open-door policy.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or 5-7 years relevant job experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience using a Pick and Pass system in a Distribution Center.

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with a variety of internal and external customers.

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

  • Good computer skills and skilled in using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

  • Proficient in use of smartphones, especially texting, emails and Google Calendars.

  • Must have a strong sense of Urgency

  • WMS knowledge a plus

  • Knowledge of common trucking practices.

  • Must be flexible to work 1st or 2nd shift.
