Job Description:

Business Unit: Job Summary:Responsible for contributing in troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems & overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Possess and demonstrates an in-depth working knowledge of all functional disciplines within the Operations and Engineering departments including IMS, Broadsoft, Sonus SBC, ALU, TDM, MGC/MGW, and 911 special services. Ensures that all Comcast switches are configured consistently with Comcast Product Service Descriptions. Supports identification and break-fix steps to mitigate issues or outage related impacts. Utilizes and suggests improvements in tools necessary to assist in the management of the switching network specific to Emergency Services and PSTN connectivity. Strong working knowledge of all functional disciplines within the Voice Engineering VOIP platform. Works independently with minimal-to-no supervision while also demonstrating the ability to lead projects and initiatives autonomously. Acts in compliance with industry & Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge. Available as on point & team support for designated shift. Product Support with knowledge of:Media Gateway SurveillanceVoice TrunkingSIP Peering NetworksTDM Transport NetworksLarge-scale enterprise systems like IP Routing, TCP Traffic Analysis, Application flows, DHCP, DNS, SQL/RDB Backend systems, IP management, LDAP, HTML/XMLBasic Administration for Windows 1 and 10Solaris/Linux/Unix Certification PreferredInitiates testing on DS!, DS3 and Optical carrier circuits and isolates the source of alarms. Processes and moniotrs spectrum/email alarms related to trunks, optic cards, T1/T3 Circuits, Sonet rings, SIP trunks, and session border controllers (SBCS), session routing proxies (SRPS), and media gateways on cisco ALU, and switching devicesLeads techincal outage bridges and engages appropriate teams to drive issues to resolutionUtilizes spectrum and IOP (Service Now) ticketing system to monitor alerts related to transport issues and hardware. Core Responsibilities:Researches new and emerging technologies. Defines processes and updates dependent routing structure to support the technology or new equipment needs. Possesses expert working knowledge of telephony principles for the Operational Engineering functions for which they are assigned to support. In addition, possesses a strong working knowledge of all other functional areas within the EPS Voice Operational team.Possesses expert level analytical skills, process development skills, and project management skillsProvides technical guidance from a dial-planning and translation design perspective to network telephony technicians and support staff.Possesses advanced-to-expert communications skills required to work independently and effectively with their peers, business partners, and management to fulfill their core job responsibilities.Continued self-education in all areas of Comcast telephony and design related materials and trendsHelps defines process for compliance and adheres with establish SOPs (Standard operating Procedures) including but not limited to workflow, automation and design specifications. Communicates with all departments to ensure that changes and revisions to processes and procedures are understood and implemented.Ensures that all services are performed to meet quality, safety, and corporate performance objectives.Works closely with the Operations switching and translations team to resolve network routing issues. Ensures both temporary and permanent back-up solutions are put in place. Works closely with Capacity, Market Design and Implementation and Planning groups to ensure that all routing standards and requirements are known before final solutions are put in place. Resolves conflicts and escalations by focusing on the best solution for the CompanyRegular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Job Specification:Bachelor's Degree or EquivalentEngineering, Computer ScienceCCNA (required in specific business units)Generally requires 0-2 years related experienceExperience working in a NOC with in-depth troubleshooting experience of complex large-scale enterprise application server environment(s). Experience in an ISP-like environment involving 24/7 support is HIGHLY desirable, as well as experience in formal ticketing systems and a demonstrated ability to work in a metrics-based service desk that tracks progress through analyticsIn-depth knowledge of OSI layers 1-7 and an ability to troubleshoot and categorize issues accordingly and then engage the appropriate fix agents in a timely manner if they are not able to affect a fixMust have an understanding of the various components of a enterprise system such as: IP routing, TCP traffic analysis, application flows, switches, web servers, web services, DHCP, DNS, SQL/RDB backend systems, IP Management, LDAP, HTML/XMLPreferred: Hands-on experience or exposure in the following: MSO (Multi-Service Operator / cable provider) supporting video, high speed data services &/or telephony/IP Networking protocols & systems including SIP, SSH, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, TFTP, ToD, ARP, IP, TCP, UDP & SNMP/Transport & Voice Equipment familiarity (i.e.: BTS, MGX)/DOCSIS Cable modem technology/ IP subnet management/LDAP Directory Servers/Sun/Solaris hardware/software platform/ Cisco Hardware & IOS (routers, switches, CMTS)/UNIX (Solaris) & LINUX/ Programming skills in: Perl, PHP, C, C++, JavaScript (Node.js), all UNIX Shell Scripting plus skills with web based embedding (HTML, CSS, XML, etc.), SQL or noSQL (MongoDB, Riak)/system and application level monitoring solutions. Examples include Netcool, Concord, Wily, Nagios, SevOne, Spectrum & Network Node Manager This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship.
