SUMMARY

Perform support services for the installation maintenance of IT infrastructure and cabling, communication and security systems hardware and software subsystems and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

Logistics Management:


  • Develop and implement a Logistics, Inventory, and Materials Procurement Plan to ensure efficient planning for all procurement and storage while maintaining material readiness for short-notice crew deployments.
  • Maintain inventory control at all times and complete a monthly inventory.
  • Coordinate shipping of all equipment needed to execute projects at site locations.
  • Ensure teams are fully supplied for work upon arrival to remote sites.
  • Procure, store, inventory and ship material, parts, and equipment required to perform the preventive and corrective maintenance of IT, communication and security systems hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain a material procurement plan which may involve subcontracting.

Hardware Installation and UPS inventory management:


  • Provide Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) maintenance and replacement support for critical power requirements to the Information Technology (IT) active infrastructure for MCEN, MCEN-S and ESS network operations at Marine Forces Reserve and its 160 remote sites.
  • Responsible for managing personnel and systems for the distribution of Uninterruptible Power Supply for all 160 sites.
  • Manage inventory control and warranty performance control Uninterruptible Power Supply.
  • Track UPS trouble tickets and assist remote sites in repairing or replacing UPS units in Telecom Room Network Equipment Racks.
  • Help troubleshoot, isolate and diagnose issues related to power and UPS systems and prescribe solutions to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with teams deployed to remote locations to increase efficiency of the installation process.
  • Possess a very strong knowledge of Telecom Rooms and Network equipment racks. Be able to assess network equipment and prescribe appropriately sized UPS and UPS battery in support of uninterrupted enterprise network services.
  • Be able to install UPS devices of various types and sizes in network equipment racks.
  • Be able to evaluate amperage, voltage, and electrical circuits for capacity appropriateness with regard to networking equipment installed in a network rack.
  • Possess the ability to remotely guide less experienced personnel to install UPS devices over the phone or email.
  • Possess the ability to read rack-elevation drawings and ensure a consistent installation scheme in accordance with drawings.
  • Be able to "red line" mark-up as-built rack elevation drawings and provide updated feedback verbally and visually to the organizational drafting team so that drawings can be corrected and updated with the latest equipment installed.

Network Cable Installation:


  • Possess very good knowledge of Fiber and Copper network installation techniques and standards.
  • Install, terminate and test copper communication cables and fiber optic cables.
  • Install and replace copper cabling in a commercial environment.
  • Route Cat6 and Fiber Optic cable through conduit, above ceilings and between floors per job specifications.
  • Read and comprehend technical schematics, operation manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Provide or relocate cable and modular connections. Work with EMT and Jhooks for best cable routes.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management authority.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years of supply and warehouse management, inventory, ordering and receiving
  • 5+ years of cabling and electronics maintenance experience and IT technical support

QUALIFICATIONS

US Citizenship; must be able to obtain an interim Secret Clearance prior to start
