Job Function:


* Plan, oversee and execute experiments to develop immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays in the Companion Diagnostics business area
* Generate/evaluate/optimize/troubleshoot study designs and test methods. Write and review protocols and technical reports. Record experimental results.
* Create value for Agilent through innovative ideas that create new businesses or enhance existing ones
* Work closely as a key scientist with cross-functional internal and external project teams, line management and external partners
* Review scientific literature, work with Key Opinion Leaders and follow scientific and medical trends in the area of Companion Diagnostics and targeted therapies directed to solid tumor cancers
* Work on patents, scientific publications (peer-reviewed articles, poster presentations, abstracts, etc.) and educational/training material
* Write/review product instructions for use and facilitate transfer of completed development projects into commercial products.
* Participate and support as technical subject matter expert national and international product registrations.
* Participate in generation and review of required documentation/procedures, in compliance with Quality Systems and Good Laboratory Practices
* Provide customer/co-worker technical support
* Lead technical team and participate in hiring process

Job Responsibilities:


* May be Design Responsible and/or Scientific Lead for one or more IHC Companion Diagnostics projects
* Participates, as scientific expert, in cross-functional internal project teams. Supports national and international product registrations
* Participates in external project teams with the pharma partners or third-party contractors. May serve as a direct contact between Agilent and pharma key stakeholders
* May be Team lead to drive specific activities that involve participation of R&D and/or other functions
* Initiates, designs, conducts IHC feasibility and performance evaluation studies and performs troubleshooting as needed in compliance with the Quality System requirements and Good Laboratory Practices. Follows timelines for completion of deliverables.
* Authors and reviews study protocols and reports. Applies scientific principles to evaluate, interpret and troubleshoot experimental results. Maintains study records and laboratory notebooks.
* Through training and coaching, exhibits a general understanding of histology and histopathology
* Supports clinical trial activities, including preparation of study and training materials for the study personnel
* May lead technical team including one or more research assistants and research associates
* Trains others; has a good understanding of scientific principles and actively contributes in training others on protocol and report writing, protocol understanding and follow up, experiment execution and data recording, preparation of presentations, publications and other documents.
* Co-authors scientific papers and participates in scientific conferences
* Reviews scientific literature and maintains state-of-the-art knowledge
* Prepares and presents scientific results via oral presentations
* Participates in product care activities as needed

* Bachelors or Master's Degree in biological or chemical sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience
* 4+ years of relevant experience
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office
* Previous experience in product development/assay development

Preferred Qualifications:


* Ph.D. in biological or chemical sciences highly preferred
* Experience with immunohistochemical (IHC) staining and use of a microscope
* Experience with Design Control, Product Development or Manufacturing around Medical/Diagnostics devices
* Understanding of basic data analysis and statistics
* Experience in cancer biology
