Primary Role
Responsible for managing the development, implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate organizational effectiveness and professional development across the enterprise. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Leadership & Organization Development and will lead areas such as performance management, talent review, and change management; and support areas such as succession planning, culture, and leadership and professional development programming.
Key Accountabilities
Leads the design, development, and implementation of OD programs and policies (e.g., performance management, talent review, change management, and culture)
Oversees large-scale project plans and resources to address extensive OD needs, working closely with management and providing guidance to fellow team members in support of OD, leadership & professional development programs
Supports additional OD, leadership & professional development projects (e.g., assessments for selection, succession planning, and professional development programs) and partners with the business to identify needs, create solutions, and implement tools
Manages and facilitates the implementation of appropriate change management and employee development activities throughout organizational transactions
Partners with specialists from other COEs to ensure organization development solutions are integrated across the business
Develops assessment devices, training programs, facilitates implementation of appropriate change management initiatives and reviews current development programs to ensure adherence to company goals
Designs, develops, and implements leadership, OD and professional development programs, content and learning solutions to broader business needs
Supports the implementation of selection tools, standards, policies, and practices
Performs data analyses using multiple methods including Excel to measure progress and ROI of OD strategies and programs
Conducts research on best practices in OD, leadership and professional development and talent management, and provides recommendations around best practices and business application
Owns the goal of establishing American Water’s human capital as critical component of accomplishing business goals
Responsible for continually building American Water’s stock of human capital and encouraging employee development
Knowledge/Skills
Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures
Experience in areas such as job analysis, performance management (e.g., performance appraisals, performance evaluation)
Experience with applied research methodologies and performing data analyses in a professional environment
Project and program management skills to include planning and execution, and manage projects with aggressive timeframes under some supervision
Working knowledge of adult learning theory, and instructional design methodology (ADDIE or 6D’s)
Interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and influencing skills
Relies on extensive and independent judgment to plan work, review results and accomplish goals
Experience/Education
Minimum 5 years' experience
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational, Organization Development, Human Resources Management or related field
