Prep and Line Cooks perform a broad range of kitchen support activities to support effective and efficient back-of-house (BOH) operations. Key responsibilities involve planning, prepping, setting up and providing quality service in all areas of food production for service periods. They also perform receiving, storage and maintenance work activities, and may assist with stock counts, checks and marks.
Job Duties:
Prepare all menu items according to recipe requirements and adhere to product sensitivity and plate presentation guidelines.
Read tickets and prepare order.
Coordinate ticket with service/kitchen staff and managers.
Work with speed and efficiency to ensure proper and timely output of restaurant menu items.
Keep updated on recipe changes and ensure proper execution of recipe procedures to maintain a high quality and consistent product.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen area throughout shift.
Complete assigned prep work for stocking and set up of station. Break down and clean station thoroughly every day.
Ensure proper rotation of all products to par. Label, day dot, and sign all products. Obtain Chef/Manager signature on all products.
Must be dressed and well groomed in Company approved uniform at all times.
Adherence to Company and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Must wear approved manufacturer certified slip resistant or non-slip shoes at all times while working
As requested by management, performs other work activities, such as stock counts, labeling and signage of products to support safe and efficient kitchen operations.
Education, Experience and Behavioral Requirements:
Education and Certification:
High School Diploma/GED required
Current food safety certification, such as ServSafe and SafeStaff
Experience:
2 years of experience performing in line cooking or preparation capacity

Ability to read and follow safety instructions related to the utilization of cutting ware and other safety equipment
Skill in the preparation of various recipes
Travel Requirements:
Local travel required when considered necessary.
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchen ware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 70 pounds in the BOH.
Regular and prolonged standing and walking to prepare food, clean work station, move garbage, etc.
Occasional ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to move food items, equipment, etc.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
Constant bending, stooping and turning to place dishes in machine, etc.
Constant exposure to hot and damp temperature fluctuations
