Performs all duties related to the preparation of surgical and autopsy specimens to be examined by a pathologist. Perform special stain and immunohistochemistry stain to aid in identification of the diagnosis or disease state. Perform and documents all related tests including QC, preventing maintenance and ordering entry of specimens in the hospital information system. Assists pathologists during the gross processing of surgical specimens when necessary. Has education in Biology and experience equivalent to the guidelines mandated by Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) of 1988 and New Jersey State Department (NJSDH) requirements.
