Job Description:

The Fabrication Engineering Group provides fabrication engineering and materials management for both mechanical and electronic projects using state-of-the-art technology. The group is involved from the initial design through manufacturing, assembly, integration and test, and works with program teams to ensure performance requirements, schedule, and budget are delivered to plan. The group continually investigates innovative fabrication technologies to assess their utility for Laboratory efforts. Job Description

This Industrial Engineering Co-Op will support Group 72's Operations team. The main focus will be to support the Group's facility improvement projects and major equipment installations for new technologies, including integration and test fit-up, machine shop fit-up, office and technician area modifications. Create As-ls, To-Be layouts using AutoCAD & obtain equipment cut sheets to assist the Facility Services Department with installations. Help manage the master investment equipment list by assisting in large capital equipment purchases and coordinating installations. Assist in quality improvement and space planning efforts by removing excess equipment and re-laying out rooms.

Assist lead Facility Engineer with moving of our current three building operation into a new state-of-art research building. Manage 3,000+ pieces of equipment throughout Division 7 using tools such as a master excel database. Manage the master equipment layout using tools such as AutoCAD. The equipment will also be surveyed for dimensions, weight, utility connections, special requirements, etc. and added to the master equipment database which will include cut sheets. Future (To-Be) layouts will be made with this information, along with installation schedules, and budget reviews, etc.

Support safety actions to keep the current 60+ room building safe, operational, and audit ready by doing daily walk-arounds and inspections. This co-op will work closely with the Group's Safety representative to ensure all areas are safe. Support and coordinate daily facility work orders to keep fabrication operations ongoing.

Support G72's Business Management team with several different tasks as required including quoting fabrication requests, fabrication process mapping, equipment preventative maintenance system, analyzing metric data, etc.

Candidate must be willing to help out the Group in any way possible. Additional tasks may include poster design, tour setups, assisting the Group's training coordinator, developing group capability web-sites/wiki pages to provide information capabilities and resources.

Qualifications

Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

Excellent interpersonal and team skills

Experience in Engineering software (AutoCad 2D Design, SolidWorks, Revit 3D Design) preferred

Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or similar Engineering. Bachelor's Degree in Business or Project Management or similar field will also be considered. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
