Job Summary

The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with IFRS and company specific accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis, audit preparation and SOX control testing, accounts receivable and payables, ownership of budgeting and forecasting activities, standard cost system updates and inventory controls. The Cost Accounting Manager will be required to supervise and manage other accounting personnel to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage daily operations, including preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, semi-annual and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, SOX compliance and related duties.

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, semi-annual and year end close.

  • Responsible for weekly accurate and timely financial forecasts along all lines of business.

  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly report out of KPI’s to key management teams.

  • Lead the annual manufacturing standard cost system updates for all departments and lines of business.

  • Responsible for all timely and accurate cycle counts and annual wall to wall physical inventories.

  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.

  • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.

  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year; monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. 

Requirements


  • Minimum 5-7 years’ accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.

  • Must be very proficient with Microsoft Excel.

  • SAP experience a plus.

  • Experience with Epicor accounting system a plus.

  • Must be willing to work some occasional weekends and holidays due to financial close.

  • Must be comfortable communicating and presenting to all levels of staff and management. 

  • Travel Required: less than 25%.
