As a Regional Director, Field Reimbursement within our Patient Services team, you will be empowered. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda’s mission by providing leadership and direction at an area level to facilitate patient access to the specific product after the prescribing decision has been made and foster team development.

A typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:


  • This role is responsible for developing the access and reimbursement strategy for patients in assigned Region and coordinating with Regional and National cross-functional team.

  • The Regional Director, Field Reimbursement is also responsible for managing, coaching, developing, directing, and leading a high performing team of Field Reimbursement Managers who educate providers prescribing the product on product procurement, Buy & Bill processes, billing and coding, contracting, payer access, medical policy and other access issues in the specialty market place.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Responsible for leading the execution of patient access-related product strategies and objectives across a region.

  • Work with and through Field Reimbursement Managers to ensure regional patient access performance meets or exceeds Company Access and Reimbursement objectives.

  • Partner with the Directors of Managed Markets and Leadership to ensure patient access on National, Regional and District level.

  • Educate Regional Sales Directors and Area Directors of Specialty Key Account Management to ensure teams are aware of National, Regional and District patient access goals and issues.

  • Implement area Management by Objectives (MBOs) for each Field Reimbursement Manager in the respective area to ensure department objectives are achieved.

  • Responsible for leading a team that facilitates patient access, with responsibility for the patient population in each specific geography.

  • Effectively coach, develop, motivate and monitor team performance to include: regular and timely feedback through advanced coaching techniques, actionable Development Plans that develop talent for increased responsibility, early identification of performance challenges or deficiencies and creation of action plans to appropriately address performance gaps. 

  • Lead within a field-based matrix environment to help ensure patient access goals are met.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:


  • BA/BS Degree required, preferably in life science or business. MBA a plus.

  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, of which 4-7+ years biotech/specialty injectable sector.

  • Minimum of 3+ years Field Reimbursement Management experience.

  • Minimum of 3+ years direct people management experience.

  • Experience working with MBOs.

  • Superior working knowledge of specialty product channels and a proven understanding of specialty product distribution. Deep knowledge of US healthcare systems, including expertise in health care financing and reimbursement policies with an emphasis on specialty/injectable markets.

  • Deep knowledge of commercial and public payer landscape, PBMs, MCOs, Medicare parts B and D, Medicaid policy.

  • Proven organizational, analytical, and interpretative skills; demonstrated time management.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 50% travel
