Internal Auditor I at Empower Federal Credit Union in Syracuse, New York

Job Description:

Role: To conduct reviews and analysis of Continuous Audit Reports (CARs) for the Credit Union in order to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations; report findings and make recommendations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 
70% Perform continuous auditing reviews by generating and analyzing system reports. Research, document and confirm any questionable activity. 
30% Perform operational, financial and compliance audit testing, as assigned. Perform administrative duties for the Internal Audit Department and Supervisory Committee. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge and Skills: 
Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience. 
Education: A two year college degree, completion of a specialized course of study at a business school, or a combination of education and experience.  
   
Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills: General knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and accounting practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel. Ability to work independently. Good written and verbal communication skills, along with analytical and problem-solving.
