Job Function and Purpose
Plan, perform, evaluate the process of manufacturing reagents.
Principal Responsibilities
Manufacture reagents required for the testing of samples, including but not limited to coupling of antibody to beads, biotinylation of antibody for detection, testing of minipool and simplex reagents, batching and qualification of new lots of batched reagents, and troubleshooting problematic reagents.
Conduct assigned experiments and assists in their designs. Follow directions and laboratory procedures as assigned by supervisor.
Analyze, interpret, and report results.
Help to complete projects on time and within budget.
Support transition of methods and reagents to customers.
Serve as expert in area of specialization in relations with other scientific personnel.
Maintain currency of scientific literature in area of expertise. Provide reviews of literature project proposals as assigned by supervisor.
Pursue a personal development program aimed at improving scientific skills and knowledge to increase effectiveness.
Work on assignments that are routine in nature.
Nature and Scope
The Research Associate I reports to a Supervisor, Senior Scientist, Manager, or Director. The incumbent initiates, and develops those experiments expected to result in partial or complete project fulfillment related to products or needed information. Requires close supervision.
Position Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree with 0-5 years of appropriate experience. Prefer someone has laboratory experience of increasingly complex nature. Must be capable of valid experimental design and interpretation. Innovative and hypothetical testing skills must be established. Oral and written communication with statistical analytical skills of advanced quality is necessary. Working well in a team situation is necessary.
Accountability
The incumbent is accountable for participating in formulating valid experimental approaches, actively working on their implementation, and in evaluating data obtained. Significant scientific information resulting from this activity can have the potential of tangible dollar sales.
