Job Description:

Job Summary:

Hatchery General Team Member is responsible for working within a team performing assigned tasks throughout the hatching process in egg handling, hatch preparation, hatch and general cleanup, while learning the proper and safe handling of birds. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Adhere to Company, Safety, and Animal Welfare policies and procedures


• Work with team members in egg handling, hatch preparation, hatches and general cleanup


• Maintain proper handling for safety of the birds


• Perform assigned tasks maintaining production flow


• Follow cleaning procedures


• Perform detail-oriented work with repetitive movement of hands

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions


• Work well within small team environment


• Ability to rotate to other jobs as required


• Comfortable working with live animals


• Maintain good attendance record

Physical/Environmental Factors:

• Moderate temperatures (86F/ 30c)


• Dirty and dusty environment: chick fluff, shells, feces, contaminated eggs, blood, odor & yolks


• Exposure to significant amount of airborne dust and feathers


• Exposure to chicken manure and associated odors, including ammonia


• Humid and damp environment
