ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Ensures that ACC trailers are emptied and set-up daily and store trailers are emptied and loaded daily.

  • Inspects equipment and supplies: such as tires, light, brakes, fuel and water, before making any runs. Reports any problems or safety issues on per-inspection sheet then to Manager.

  • Rotates trailers from dock to ensure Material Handlers have work.

  • Trains and gives work direction to material handlers and forklift drivers.

  • Assigns a material handler to watch over dock when supervisor is not available.

  • Ensures that truck yard, dock and aisles are maintained in a manner which contributes to the efficient, effective and safe accomplishment of material handling in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Ensures that area below ramp is cleaned after trailer pulls out.

  • Ensures that dock area is cleaned once a week. Ensures the dock area is swept properly and that no more than two lines of melon boxes are on the dock.

  • Ensures that melon boxes are moved to the appropriate area. Ensures that forklift drivers move melon boxes from the dock and isles.

  • Schedules trash, and metal recycle removal

  • Instructs the drivers to change trailers at the dock when empty, checks the heater and supplies in the trailer.

  • At approximately 3:00 pm bring the list of all empty ACC’s and Donation trailers to the Transportation/Dock Manager.

  • Drives forklift as required.

  • Builds and maintains effective quality working relationships with management, co-workers customers, and donors. Uses effective written and verbal communication. Uses good interpersonal skills treating everyone with dignity and respect. Immediately advises supervisor of significant and unexpected problems. Promotes and demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.

  • Completes assignments, projects, reports, and paperwork accurately and timely.

  • Safeguards all Goodwill property including donated goods. Reports any suspicious behavior, incidents of theft or unauthorized possession/removal of Goodwill property.

  • Follows all Goodwill policies and procedures. Follows safety rules and regulations. Acts safely at all times.

  • Supports the best elements of our corporate culture while making culture change. Open to and supportive of new ideas and process improvement of systems and procedures.

  • Drives on company business if required.

  • Works flexible schedules, overtime, weekend, evenings and holidays if required.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS


Physical - Heavy Work: Lifting and Carrying objects weighing 20 pounds constantly, 30 pounds frequently, and 40 pounds occasionally to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to- position requiring the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Pushing and Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to push, pull, draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion exerting 20 pounds of force constantly, 40 pounds of force frequently, and 75 pounds of force occasionally. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing:  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound. Standing: Standing in one location for an extended period of time. Walking:  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Repetitive Motions: Uninterrupted repetitions of the wrists, hands, fingers, elbows, or shoulders. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist using the lower extremities and back muscles. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as operating office machines; preparing; viewing a computer terminal; determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned. The worker is required to have visual acuity, including color, to visually inspect products for small defects at distances close to the eyes and within or at arms’ length. The worker is required to have visual acuity, including color, to read prices, operate a cash register, complete credit card and return paperwork, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles, tractor trailers, forklifts, compactors, balers, etc.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS


Education and/or Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have the functional and technical skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
