Responsibilities of the Invasive Cardiac Technician include assisting physicians with Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Atherectoy, TEC, Rotablator, Valvuloplasty, Intravascular Ultrasound, Pulmonary Angiograms, coronary and billInsertion of Intra aortic balloon pumps and coronary and stents. Additionally, the Invasive Cardiac Technician will prepare sterile trays, load and operate power injectors, assist with removing procedural sheathes, assist with inserting vascular closure devices, maintain inventory control, ensure CD acquisitions are properly downloaded to be reviewed through intranet with internet capabilities, and provide overall support to the physicians as needed. The Invasive Cardiac Technician will assist with direct patient care, which includes preparing, educating and answering the individual’s questions prior and throughout the process, attach the EKG leads to the patient, perform betadine scrub according to protocol and drape the patient. 


Ideally, the Invasive Cardiac Technician will have previous experience working in a cardiac catheterization lab, invasive procedure area, or cardiac vascular laboratory. Additionally, this individual should have or be willing to obtain their RCIS exam given by the CCI or their Radiologic Technologist License, and familiarity using computers, hemodynamic monitoring,and sterile operative techniques.
