POSITION PROFILE

The Global Molecule Lead (GML) is a critical role in the organization that has a significant impact on a molecule at all stages of the product lifecycle. The GML is accountable to the Portfolio Governance Committee (PGC) and the Operating Executive Committee (OEC) for the establishment and execution of a global molecule lifecycle strategy which integrates scientific rationale, clinical development, regulatory, commercial and CMC strategy, and a global neuroscience franchise plan that optimizes molecule value and is aligned with corporate business objectives. The GML provides strategic leadership to the Global Molecule Team (GMT), and partners with functional area leaders to ensure that the team has necessary resources (per the operating plan) and capabilities to execute on the approved global molecule strategy. GMLs are part of the cross-functional Franchise Team and members of the Global Product Strategy Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Serve as the leader of the cross-functional Global Molecule Team with accountability for molecule strategy and team leadership throughout the molecule lifecycle

* Collaborate with functional heads in the selection of key GMT members

* Establish a vision, strategy and lifecycle plans for the molecule with the GMT, sub-teams and project teams that are aligned with corporate business objectives

* Lead GMT s identification and prioritization of new opportunities, build cross-functional global development plans, navigate internal governance and provide appropriate team accountability

* Drive team effectiveness by setting clear expectations for the GMT and team member s roles and responsibilities, promoting team cohesiveness to optimize performance, and mediating conflict resolution

* Provide strategic guidance and support to GMT sub-team projects and activities that are executed in matrix and functional channels (e.g. clinical development, technical operations, commercial, regulatory)

* Mobilize and align the organization to execute on the approved molecule strategy, including coordination and synchronizing activities with other GMLs and/or GMTs

* Leverage input from all critical functions to identify and evaluate strategic life cycle opportunities that maximize the value of the molecule through optimal balance of risk, timelines, cost and revenues

* Participate in the Long Range Plan (LRP) process and approve underlying assumptions resulting in articulate strategies and plans that align with Jazz mission and approach

* Make recommendations to Portfolio Governance Committee (PGC) and to the Operating Executive Committee (OEC) to maximize the value of the asset over its entire lifecycle (as captured in the Annual Lifecycle Plan, Product Development Plans, Corporate or Therapeutic Area Strategic Plans)

* Identify what decisions are at the molecule, portfolio, functional or geographical levels

* Summarize and communicate key updates, issues, considerations and decision points to PGC and the OEC and other review/decision-making committees

* GMLs may take on additional roles for early phase molecules, external collaborations and/or corporate strategic projects with high visibility and expanded team leadership responsibilities

* Partner with relevant functions to develop effective working relationships both internally and with external key stakeholders (development partners, key opinion leaders, advocacy groups, etc.)

* Provide performance review input for key positions on the GMT

* As appropriate, participate in ongoing development and enhancement of cross-functional team structures, processes, systems, other tools and resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 12+ years multi-disciplinary experience in the pharma/biotech industry

* Experience as leader (GML, Product Team Lead, General Manager) or core member of a GMT (or equivalent cross-functional team) for a sufficient amount of time to have contributed to a significant milestone (i.e. Phase 3 implementation, major regulatory submission, launch)

* Bachelor s degree required, advanced degree (PhD, MBA, MD, PharmD) preferred

* Neuroscience / psychiatry experience preferred

* Proven experience as a successful, decisive leader in a strategic multi-functional environment

* Strong track-record of delivering results through effective team and peer leadership

* Ability to manage complex projects with ambitious milestones in high pressure circumstances

* Experience at managing collaborations, alliances or other relationships through influencing without direct authority

* Proven skills in navigating within a highly-matrixed environment

* Ability to synthesize different points of view to make sound, timely and objective decisions

* Excellent communication skills, including executive presence and strong presentation skills

Global role experience and familiarity with US, EU and RoW market dynamics
