West Marion Community Hospital opened in 2002 to meet the healthcare needs of the growing population of West Marion County. The 174-bed hospital features all private rooms and offers a full-service Emergency Department and Quick Care, as well as Marion County's only inpatient Joint Care Center. Medical services include traditional surgery, radiological services and a variety of outpatient services. The Radiographer performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. Regulates the equipment used to expose the x-ray cassette. Operates equipment safely and maintains A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing all types of procedures. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and medical staff.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, provides and evaluates patient education specific to the patient's assessed needs, abilities, and readiness as appropriate to the patient's length of stay. Always check Meditech for the physician's order prior to the exam. Perform routine radiology examinations according to the manual, Radiologists and medical staff. Perform portable/bedside examinations according to the policy manual, Radiologists and medical staff. Perform fluoroscopy and invasive exams according to the policy manual, Radiologists and medical staff. Perform all special exams according to the policy manual, Radiologists and medical staff. Documents in chart upon completion of procedures. Documents critical values according to departmental policies. Abides by all regulations which apply to State and National licenses. Supplies area with the items necessary to perform your daily schedule. Immediately reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor. Performs newly assigned duties upon completion of training, independently.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
ARRT registry required
State of Florida license required
BLS - AHA Healthcare Provider required

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

1-3 years preferred
