To plan, organize, manage, and control the definition, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems for an assigned functional area of the organization. Responsibilities include systems and/or application analysis, establishment of and implementation of new or revised systems/applications.

Selects, trains, develops, and motivates a staff of exempt, technical employees. Ensures the timely and accurate management of information systems, including but not limited to: code production, system upgrades, and testing of systems being implemented for projects supported. Ensures the performance, supportability, and continuance of these systems and technologies by establishing procedures and documentation as directed by policies and procedures. Assists in the development of departmental policy and procedural documentation as related to each region. Assures the implementation of corporate security policies by following procedures and policies and adhering to security standards, including GDP and EADS standards. Maintains optimal systems' stability and performance by monitoring hardware, software, and effecting the necessary configuration modifications in accordance with acceptable standards, company and departmental procedures and policies. Manages the timely and accurate supportability of systems and applications. Provides performance and status reports to senior management. Reviews current automated and procedural methods, initiates action to correct inefficiencies. Interacts closely with regional management. Works with the business community to identify, define, and help detail information systems project specifications. Conducts in-depth analysis and research into the technical makings of the specific computer system product. Uses knowledge, understanding, and applies techniques from technical reference manuals in the technical arena. Identifies operational problems and directs staff to resolve those problems.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related curriculum or equivalent experience in lieu of degree. Five (5) years of experience in the applicable information technology arena required: development (web, mainframe, e-commerce), system (Unix, windows, zseries, iseries), support (service desk, technical), or quality assurance. Management experience preferred. Work experience in the transportation or brokerage business preferred. Extensive knowledge of and experience in information technology concepts is required, including specific knowledge of information analysis and identification techniques, database analysis and design. Strong management, human relations, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Presentation skills needed to effectively present technology based solutions and concepts to management. Must be able to respond to serious information systems problems of service interruption 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
