Job Description:

The position shall establish and administer effective strength and conditioning training programs designed to maximize the physical performance and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries of brigade personnel. Complete the specific tasks to meet or exceed the acceptable quality level. The position will be assigned specifically to designated units such as: fitness centers/gyms, brigade or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments, and at the Soldier Performance Readiness Center (SPRC). Work includes providing forward Musculoskeletal (MSK) care, early medical intervention, Injury Prevention (IP) and performance optimization services. The location for the performance of duty is under the control and direction of the resourced unit Brigade (BDE) Commander in coordination with the installation ACOR. Primary focus is to optimize individual and unit physical readiness and ability to perform warrior tasks and battle drills required for the BDE's mission. Physical readiness is defined as availability for deployment and task-specific performance. They will work as part of the H2F Performance Team to develop a comprehensive, periodized education and services program integrated and synchronized with the battalion (BN) training calendar. Success is determined by the ability of the BDE to perform its combat mission.
•Participates in program quality assurance of the training programs per guiding instructions to ensure training programs are aligned with industry standards.

•Participates in periodic meetings with the BDE H2F Program Director and unit leadership, to review H2F physical training program.

•Ensures safe and effective operation of equipment used within their work capacity which contributes to a safe working environment. Where deficiencies exist regarding SCC supplies, equipment utilization and needs, bring it to the attention of the BDE H2F Program Director.

•Coordinates scheduling of facilities for Government approved courses, training, and classes as applicable.

•Performs other tasks, within the scope of the SCC position description, as assigned by the BDE H2F Program Director.

•Performs strength and conditioning programs in accordance with FM 7-22 Holistic Health and Fitness.

•Assists the H2F Lead SCC with developing, coordinating, executing, and managing H2F strength and conditioning programs.

•Develops lines of communication with unit leadership, including participating in unit training and other meetings.

•Develops recommended evidence-based, periodized strength and conditioning programs focused on unit mission and individual Soldier tasks in accordance with H2F that are synchronized and integrated with unit training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.

•Submits strength and conditioning programs, with quantified training loads, to H2F Lead SCC for approval.

•Coordinates, executes, and manages physical performance optimization programs within the framework of the unit's approved training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.

•Coordinates and assists the Lead SSC to develop, coordinate, and execute approved training programs for Soldiers with physical limitations that are medically cleared for strength and conditioning training/reconditioning.

•Coordinates with H2F Lead SCC to ensure all strength and conditioning education and services are synchronized and integrated with approved education and services provided by H2F Performance Team.

•Coaches and mentors the unit fitness leaders, including MFTs.

•Provides recommended and approved instruction and guidance to Soldiers and unit leadership on physical strength and conditioning and injury prevention in coordination with the unit and H2F Performance Team.

•Identifies and directs unit personnel with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to the appropriate medical professionals for evaluation and treatment.

•Collects data and prepares documentation and reporting of data in accordance with guiding instructions.

•Participates in program quality assurance of programs per guiding instructions to ensure programs are aligned with industry standards.

•Participates in periodic meetings with H2F Performance Team and unit leadership to review and evaluate physical training program.

•Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement to H2F Lead SCC.

•Performs other tasks, within the scope of the SCC's position description, as assigned by the H2F Performance Team.

•Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement to the Lead SCC.

•Performs other tasks, within the scope of the SCC position description, as assigned by the BDE H2F Program Director.

•Performs strength and conditioning programs in accordance with FM 7-22 Holistic Health and Fitness.

Other Job Requirements

Responsibilities

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

• A certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) as a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).

• Two years of relevant AT/SCC work experience within the last five years.

• Relevant experience is defined as developing and executing task and environment specific functional injury control and health/well-being programs for groups of athletes or Department of Defense/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Employment related to internships or graduate work is not considered as relevant experience.

• Have a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards. The Government will not pay for certification and the contractor shall not bill for the SCC time spent for certification training. Recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the SCC is performing services under this contract. Failure of the SCC to obtain and maintain training does not release the Contractor from the contract requirement.

• Have U.S. Citizenship (copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers required). SCCs performing under this contract must be US citizens. In addition, if a Contractor employee fails to meet the citizenship requirements stated herein, the Contractor shall not hold the Government liable for not allowing performance under this contract.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with Soldiers, staff and other ATs/SCCs.

• Demonstrate sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that they can relate to a variety of Soldiers from diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to operate a personal or government computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel.

• Participate in Government-based education and in-service training as mandated by the local installation. Mandatory Government training will comply with requirements established in the PWS.

• Participate in continuing education programs to meet the requirements for their SCC license or certification renewals. The SCCs shall not attend licensing/credentialing continuing education training during duty hours unless mandated by the Government and approved by the installation ACOR/COR. The Government is not responsible for SCC continuing education costs. Elective continuing education opportunities occurring on the installation may be extended to the SCC as non-billable time. Be required to observe BDE specific training events (e.g., shooting range, obstacle courses, combative training areas, etc.) as directed. SCCs must be physically able to hike in an austere environment and terrain (e.g., rocky, no running water, no shelter, no bathroom, no climate control, inclement weather, loud, smoky, etc.) while carrying their own backpack with necessary supplies on occasion (
