POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director, the OUTPATIENT ADMINISTRATIVE LEAD will assume responsibility for all clerical and administrative tasks within the outpatient therapy clinic front office. This will include patient scheduling, insurance authorization, coding, billing, processing orders, charge reconciliation, answering the phone, maintaining the outpatient waiting area, medical records management and compliance, faxing, filing, copying, spreadsheet management, and word processing. The Outpatient Administrative Lead will supervise two Unit Secretaries within the outpatient department in addition to any rehab aides who may assist with clerical coverage. The person in this role will assist with any front office duties, or other department tasks, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None required.

EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE: 6 months general office experience preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate using auditory Input and Output. Clerical Skills including knowledge of proper grammar, composition and written skills. Familiar with medical terminology, knowledge of applicable software such as Excel and Word. Spanish speaking is an asset.

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Involves general guidance and direction by the Director and Manager. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Must be able to prioritize and balance workload with multiple department/staff members. Work performance is reviewed by peers and managers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires corrected hearing and vision to within functional ranges. Requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, crouching, kneeling, bending, lifting, reaching, and the ability to handle fine motor instruments. Heavy physical activity requiring exertions of force up to 50 pounds infrequently, 25 to 50 pounds occasionally and 5 to 25 pounds frequently. Must be able to handle behavioral issues of patients and visitors while under highly stressful and volatile situations.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various task/activities. Personal Protective equipment includes, but is not limited to gloves, masks, safety glasses and gowns.
