Job Description:

Supports the Business Unit by coordinating the warehousing and distribution of raw materials and finished products through the Distribution Center (DC). Assists Distribution Manager in providing work direction and leadership to warehouse employees within the guidelines of standard work rules, union contract provisions, and employment policies. Works collaboratively with Business Services, Logistics/Supply Chain, and Sales departments to ensure efficient product flow and capacity utilization, while ensuring that our products are delivered in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Assists in scheduling, assigning work, and providing clear direction to warehouse employees. Provide vacation relief to the DC Manager and Office/Shipping Admin. Ensures that the load-out process flows smoothly and daily goals are met.

- Works effectively with unionized employees to promote positive and productive working relationships. Understands and effectively applies work rules, union contract provisions, and employment policies. Administers discipline consistently and fairly. Works with Human Resources and plant management to resolve employee grievances. Actively communicates with employees through shift meetings and informal methods.

- Actively promotes safe work behaviors and holds self and direct reports accountable for following safety rules and regulations. Conducts accident/injury investigations and sends reports of injury to HR in a timely manner to meet rapid reporting standards. May coordinate and/or facilitate plant safety meetings, training, and incentive programs.

- Responsible for ordering and inventory management processes for Purchase for Resale (PFR) items to maximize service and avoid obsolescence

- Monitors incoming shipments of goods and enters data into computer systems to ensure that errors in delivery are identified and rectified in a timely and accurate manner, and damaged goods are processes appropriately.

- Monitors pallet count and maintains inventory records so that location and payment schedules of pallets are properly maintained.

- Work with other production facilities, customers and vendors to effectively utilize DC space and labor to meet or exceed Kemps budgetary requirements.

- Provide excellent service to internal and/or external customers by meeting with customers and Sales regularly to discuss ways to improve operational performance and better meet the service needs of our customers.

- Responsible for tracking and reconciling CHEP Pallet inventory on a weekly basis.

- Designs truck delivery loads of purchased (suppliers or inter-plant transfer) products for delivery to Corporate Warehouse or key accounts. Coordinates with plant transportation personnel to deliver products on a timely basis. Approves and rejects add-ons and cuts in order to ensure most effective and efficient delivery of product.

- Informs Order Desk and Sales Department personnel of inventory status on promotions, and out of stock and new products so they can communicate timely information to customers.

- Enters receivers, requisitions and WRO s on computerized inventory system and verifies output in inventory reports so that accurate receiving records are kept.

- Monitors physical inventories, takes sample counts and reviews physical and perpetual inventory records on a daily basis so that discrepancies can be identified and rectified.

- Interfaces with distribution vendors and suppliers to identify and utilize most cost-effective means to ship products from Corporate Warehouse. Resolves most in-coming shipment problems.

- Compiles, reconciles and enters physical inventory information at period end to ensure accurate physical inventory records are maintained.

- Demonstrate and promote Kemps Culture of Excellence: Operating at the highest levels of integrity and accountability every day by establishing trust at all levels, and driving continuous improvement

- Keeps Manager informed of matters requiring his/her attention.

- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- ASSOCIATE S DEGREE IN BUSINESS, LOGISTICS, DISTRIBUTION, SUPPLY CHAIN OR RELATED CURRICULUM PLUS 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN FOOD INDUSTRY LOGISTICS.

- BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS, LOGISTICS, DISTRIBUTION, SUPPLY CHAIN OR RELATED FIELD PREFERRED.

- OR 5-6 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN AN INVENTORY OR RECEIVING DEPARTMENT

- SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Superior skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel; Experience with MS Power BI or similar analytical package is preferred; Preferred experience JDEdwards or similar ERP.

- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Ability to supervise staff efficiently and effectively

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Office environment

- Plant or warehouse environment, depending on project assignment

- Noise level is usually quiet

- Required to sit for periods of time
