DESCRIPTION

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Assistant Research Scientist. Under the direction of Professor Ricardo Sanfelice, the assistant research scientist will perform research on the generation of analysis and design tools for learning-based optimization algorithms for hybrid dynamical systems. The results will have applications to a wide range of hybrid and cyber-physical systems, such as autonomous vehicle systems and distributed power systems. Duties for the assistant research scientist include performing research on these topics, writing papers and project reports, as well as assist with the management of related projects and advising of students. More information about the research at the Hybrid Systems Laboratory is available at https://hybrid.soe.ucsc.edu. The University of California at Santa Cruz also houses Cyber-Physical Systems Research Center which brings together more than 30 faculty with interest in numerous areas, including networking, sensors, robotics, and control.

ACADEMIC TITLE
Assistant Research Scientist

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Ph.D. (or an equivalent foreign degree) in engineering, applied math, or closely related field at the time of application.

* A minimum of two years of research experience in engineering, applied math, or closely related field at an academic institution after receiving the Ph.D. degree is required.

Initial appointment will be 100% for one year. Reappointment may be considered contingent upon the availability of work and appropriate funding.
