The HCA North Carolina Division \\"Mission Direct\\" Transfer Center is located in Asheville NC, providing services across 18 counties of Western NC and the surrounding region. The Transfer Center supports regional referrals including acute transfers and direct admissions in addition to patient placement across Mission Health, the state's sixth largest health system. The transfer center is staffed 24/7 with experienced Registered Nurses who collaborate between physicians, hospitals, and other immediate health care settings to coordinate the timely movement of high acuity patients such as STEMI, stroke, trauma, neonatal care, and more. Our team is committed to the care and improvement of human life; impacting over 100,000 patients annually through support to hospital clinical and medical staff both for our HCA facilities and other facilities locally or in outlying markets. At the HCA Transfer Center, we also assist in arranging transportation services when needed through connection with ground and air services. Our goal is to provide comprehensive solutions that allow health care providers the ability to stay at the bedside with the patient while we assist in locating placement, transport, and other needed logistics for getting this patient the access to care that they need.

THE TRANSFER CENTER DIRECTOR is responsible for the operation of the Mission Direct Transfer Center. Plan, problem solve, and communicate with North Carolina Division hospitals, medical staff, administrators, department heads, and nursing staff to effectively direct bed placement, direct admissions and transfers from HCA and non-HCA hospitals. Lead and manage all members of the Access Center team and work directly with the Assistant Vice President of the Transfer Center to maximize volume growth and provide optimized services to HCA customers.

* Provide leadership, management and administration of all aspects of the HCA-Mission Direct Transfer Center in order to ensure of organizational mission and objectives are met.

* Develop relationships and processes that will enhance access to the Mission Health hospitals, services, physicians, and health care professionals.

* Hire and maintain appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel and ensure the highest quality of professional skill.

* Provide a structured means for policy and procedure development through regularly scheduled staff meetings allowing for continual evaluation, review, and update of standards, functions, goals, and objectives.

* Under the direction of the Division TC AVP, work collaboratively with the HCA Mission Health medical staff advisors and client designated medical staff advisors to establish, revise, and enforce the medical staff participation criteria for transfer operations and centralized patient placement.

* Promote HCA Mission Health culture of excellence and quality service through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient and customer needs.

* Consult with HCA legal advisors on the interpretation and enforcement of the Inspector's General Safe Harbor Regulations, EMTALA, Stark Laws, and any other points of law that are pertinent to transfer center activity.

* In collaboration with throughput leaders, identifies and implements capacity management changes needed for effective throughput.

* Under the direction of the Division TC AVP and in conjunction with Physician Relations, perform regular visits to strategic outreach facilities to provide training, communication, and address service opportunities related to transfer center activities.

* In conjunction with the Division TC AVP, collect, correlate, analyze, and interpret operational, financial, and statistical data. Inform and advise appropriate members of the HCA Senior Management team of potential business opportunities.

* Assists with development of new programs/services.

* In conjunction with the Division TC AVP, ensure the sound fiscal operation of the department, including the timely, accurate, and comprehensive development of an annual budget.

* Monitor operating budget and staffing levels.

* Demonstrate responsibility for the containment of costs through appropriate ordering of supplies, recovery of service charges, and conservation of supplies.

* Monitor department expenditures to ensure compliance with budget limits.

* Respond promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.

* Select, orient, and educate department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in healthcare or business related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

* Minimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory experience.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE - Active Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Knowledge of the principles and practices of access/call/ transfer center communications and operations and/or healthcare management.

* Knowledge of state and national rules and regulations, including EMTALA.

* Interact with other healthcare provider and local government officials.

* Ensure organizational productivity.

* Exercise a high degree of judgment, initiative, discretion, and decision-making.

* Ability to work in an evolving healthcare environment.

* Strong communication and presentation skills.
