We are recruiting for an Assistant Vice President, Field Marketing & Underwriting to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Independently handles a moderate to large size geographic territory including complex and demanding agency relationships in support of the company’s mission.  Establishes the vision and objectives for the multi-state territory, generally consisting of three or more states.  Leads managers and marketing underwriters who handle complex Property and Casualty accounts. Implements underwriting guidelines and procedures and provides final approval for Marketing Underwriters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and direct staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with the company’s strategic direction.


• Establish strategy for moving agents through the PFS program to drive highest profit margin and achieve market share and market segmentation objectives.


• Interpret and apply the company’s strategies to high level agency relationships.


• Lead and manage the development and implementation of business plans for achieving established operational plan targets for written premium, loss ratio, product retention, pricing and coordination of service.


• Develop market knowledge of potential new agency opportunities to achieve appropriate market share objectives.


• Analyze and interpret information drawn from multiple sources to make comprehensive agency decisions regarding quality and profitability of the Core Service Center book of business.


• Lead and manage overall customer relationship, in collaboration with peer leadership from claims and loss control, including proper support and service delivery activities to ensure achievement of business plan objectives. 


• Lead, analyze, interpret, build and execute strategic operational plans for your span of control in correlation with company objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work related experience.


• 7 years underwriting experience


• 5 years leadership experience, preferred


• 2 years experience managing direct reports


• Designations such as CIC, CPCU, and/or AU, preferred.


• Demonstrated leadership success with teams and peers including collaboration, persuasion, vision, emotional intelligence and talent development.   


• Demonstrated success cultivating and maintaining business relationships with key customers to support departmental goals and objectives.


• Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.


• Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.


• Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.


• Ability to influence and persuade others.


• Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.


• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.


• Ability to travel 25%.
